Early Intervention Services

PTLC provides both Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy services for infants and toddlers (birth-3 years). We provide both ongoing services (weekly, bi-weekly), or we can see your child on a  consultative/”follow-up” basis depending on the baby’s needs.  Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend sessions with their child, as our therapists focus strongly on parent education for home carryover to maximize progress and to prevent further delay.

How early should my baby be referred if I suspect a motor, speech, or feeding problem?  As soon as possible!   Early intervention has proven beneficial for better outcomes and takes advantage of a baby/toddler’s rapidly changing nervous system to make a lasting impact on development.  Many delays do not resolve spontaneously, and earlier intervention from a trained therapist provides ample opportunity to teach parents how to work with their children at home, potentially preventing a minor delay from becoming a major one.  If you have any questions about whether your child might need a therapy evaluation, our clinic offers free phone consults during which you can discuss your child’s developmental profile and a therapist can help you make a decision about whether an evaluation is warranted.
